What is SnapViewer?
SnapViewer is a free browser tool for public Snapchat profiles. You type a username and see the profile card, the public Story, saved Highlights and Spotlight videos, each with a Download button for the MP4 or JPG file Snapchat serves.
There is no account to create, no Snapchat login and no app or extension to install. The main tool is the Snapchat story viewer on the home page; the other tool pages are the same tool set up for one job, such as the profile picture viewer or the Spotlight downloader.
Is SnapViewer part of Snapchat?
SnapViewer is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Snap Inc. Snapchat is a trademark of Snap Inc. Nothing on this site comes from Snap Inc., and we name Snapchat only because it is the service the tool reads from.
The tool reads only what Snapchat shows to everyone on a public profile page. Snap describes when a Story becomes public like this:
“If you set your My Story Friends to be viewable by ‘Everyone’ in Settings, your My Story is considered public and will be visible to anyone.”
How does the tool work?
Our server opens the public profile page on snapchat.com without logging in, reads the list of public snaps from it, and hands your browser signed download links. In order:
- You type a username or paste a snapchat.com link.
- Our server requests that public profile page, like a browser with no account would.
- It lists the profile card, Story, Highlights and Spotlight it found.
- Previews play straight from Snapchat's media servers in your browser.
- A Download button streams the file from Snapchat's servers to you under a readable name. We keep no copy.
What can SnapViewer never do?
Some things are impossible by design, and we say so on every page instead of hiding it:
- Show private accounts or friends-only Stories.
- Show chats, Snaps sent to friends or Memories.
- Show Snap Map locations or friend lists.
- Tell you who else viewed a Story.
- Make a file sharper than Snapchat stores it (no fake HD or 4K).

Who writes and checks the guides?
The guides are written and tested by the SnapViewer editor. Each fact about Snapchat, a phone, a browser or the law is checked against an official page, and every number about files comes from our own tests of the tool, with the date of the test.
How can a profile owner opt out?
If you own a public Snapchat profile and do not want it shown on SnapViewer, write to contact@snapviewer.me. After we confirm the account is yours, the tool refuses your username and every download link already handed out for it stops working. Details are on the copyright and opt-out page.

Yes. There is no paid plan, no account and no limit apart from a short pause when too many lookups arrive at once.
